Established in 2018, Sugar Bean Pictures is a television, film and short-form content production house that specifically focuses on impact storytelling in cultural, historical, social and educational contexts. We develop and produce both scripted and non-scripted content that speaks to our core value of "purposeful storytelling". Sugar Bean Pictures is run by highly skilled and experienced production and technical teams. Our passion, enthusiasm and dedication is visible in the work we produce. Our creative process is developed through active client involvement and our attention to detail in the management of our production line is second to none. Productions
Our work goes beyond pushing the production over the finish line. We build comprehensive impact strategies that include industry development in South Africa, and distribution plans that will allow accessibility of our films in previously and currently disadvantaged communities. The television shows we create are rooted in the African experience and inspired by our history and environment. Our documentary films put the spotlight on larger conversations that speak to social change and the missing pieces of African history.
Short form video has become a powerful communication tool that provides a multitude of opportunities for social media marketing and brand communication. As such, we also create short form content for corporates, that is usually part of a bigger communication strategy.

The directors of Sugar Bean Pictures are a mother-daughter team who are both highly experienced in each of their fields: Education specialist Nomsa Mbuli and television producer Ntokozo Mbuli. With Nomsa as the Director of Education, Training and Development, and Ntokozo as the Managing Director and Head of Production in the company, this partnership is most ideal in executing the vision of Sugar Bean Pictures. Nomsa brings with her a nurturing and supportive management style. With a career in education spanning just over 45 years, her expertise is backed up by extensive experience in various roles within the department of education. Ntokozo is driven by excellence and her list of accolades proves this. They are supported by a team that is passionate about generating fresh ideas for the kind of television content that harvests the untold stories of South Africa and Africa. Our responsibility to our stories is paramount and we never compromise the level of professionalism that is needed to deliver on audience expectations. We have brought together exceptionally skilled individuals, armed with years of experience, to produce high quality productions.
